The "damn" Leprechaun!!

So I sometimes try to be a good mom and have traditions for my children to someday look back on and emulate with their children or just remember fondly. Anyways St. Patrick usually comes and hides candies or does a scavenger hunt. However sometimes it is an afterthought for me and I do a less than adequate job as a Leprechaun. I was remembering when we lived in Socorro and I forgot to do anything with the gold I had. So that night I stuck a back of chocolate gold on the wreath hanging on the door. I told Trey to go outside and look for something in my car. (Hoping that he would see the gold on the way back in.) Well he swung the door hard and the gold came down and hit him on the head. He was sure that the "damn" Leprechaun (as Lee says) threw the bag of gold at him. Makes me laugh whenever I picture his face and him telling the story of the Leprechaun that threw the gold at him.

Yet another time I forgot to be a good Leprechaun and a few days later I had Shani look in my glove box on the way to school. She was sure that the Leprechaun had hid the candy so good that they could not find it on St. Patrick's Day!

This year no gold throwing and just a trail of gold pieces leading to each child's See's Candies Gold Pieces.

I love this idea! What a cool tradition. I totally stunk as a cool mom for St. Patty's Day this year. Didn't even make the green sprinkly pancakes like I always do. Oh well....maybe next year.
