Happy 14th to my Baby Boy!

Ty turned 14 yesterday and I turned 80. I can still remember being fourteen... so weird that now I have one of "those".
I must admit he has turned out pretty good so far. He a great mix of his dad and me. Very organized and neat yet still a little laid back, a sense of humor with a touch of crazy, athletic and artistic, and a "smart ass" and a pleaser. All good combinations.
Who would have thought that the little 4 lb baby would tower over me by 5 inches at 14.
Happy birthday Ty Marshall Murphy!

Echos of yesterday...

I visited Great Aunt Arwella today.

I love to hear her voice. It is an echo of my own Grandmother who passed away when I was about 10. What I love most is when she says my name "Channy"... like that is exactly who I am.

I was born Chandell Fay Arnett and grew up as Channy. But as an adult and in the world of work I became Chandell, Ms. Murphy, Sister Murphy, "Miss" (to the juvenile delinquents), Mrs. Murphy, or Miss Chandell.
When Arwella calls me Channy and talks to me like she has known everything about me since I was born, it is the most comforting thing I have felt in a long time! She reminds me of who I am or who I was. Funny how easy it is to loose yourself as you become an adult. You become so many things to so many people that you hardly remember when you used to be so happy playing the piano loud and long (Man from Snowy River Theme my personal fav.), eating peaches off the tree, playing in the mudd, reading Newberry Winners, talking to yourself, skinny dipping, playing wahpah on the trampoline, coloring with your friends, and singing off key with your sisters.
